John Mills Electric is pleased to be able to offer utility pole and overhead line installation capabilities to our customers. Whether it’s a single wooden utility take-off pole for a residential customer, or a new 3 phase primary line for an industrial customer, Mills Electric has the equipment, materials and technical experience to get the job done. 

We offer 24/7 emergency service to repair storm damage to your overhead wiring system. 

All of our trucks are NYS apportioned so that we can legally cross state lines to service customers on both sides of the NY/PA border. 

We stock a full line of standard utility poles, from 35’ poles through 55’ poles.  Additionally, we maintain a complete line of utility pole accessories such as cross-arms, lightning arrestors, fused cutouts, anchors, guying accessories, etc. 

Digger/Derrick:  Our digger/derrick truck is a 2WD International, outfitted with an Altec DL45 Digger/Derrick.  Capable of lifting 30,000 lbs, this vehicle offers our customers a lower cost alternative to having to hire a crane service. This is particularly important when trying to make a lift in tight or congested areas. This truck is ideal for setting pad mounted transformers or small to medium size generators, and it’s also great for lifting and placing switchgear onto loading docks or down into manholes and pits. We have outfitted our line truck with an 18” diameter auger, a 24” diameter auger and a 36” diameter auger. These augers work well not only for setting standard utility poles, but for auguring holes for pole barns or precast light pole bases.
 

Bucket Truck:  Our bucket truck is a 2WD International, outfitted with an Altec AM855 over center insulated bucket. With a working height of 60’, we can handle most parking lot lighting repairs and lamp replacement, as well as most standard utility pole work.
